Sump Pump Installation in New Jersey

A sump pump is what actually takes water out of your basement. We install sealed sump pits, Zoeller sump pumps, check valves, and discharge lines that carry water away from your foundation — plus battery backup pumps for power outages.

Effective Basement Solutions has kept New Jersey basements dry since 2011 — with our own crews, never subcontractors. Call or text 1-800-957-0075 for a free estimate.

Signs You Need a New Sump Pump

  • Water in the basement and no sump pump at all
  • A pump that runs constantly or turns on and off over and over
  • An old, noisy, or rusted pump
  • An open pit with no sealed lid
  • A discharge line that dumps water next to the house or freezes in winter

Not sure? We’ll look at it for free and tell you honestly what it needs.

Installed Right the First Time

Sealed sump pit

A sealed pit with the pump and float keeps out debris and basement moisture, and ties into your French drain if you have one.

Check valve and ice guard

A check valve stops water from flowing back into the pit, and the outside discharge has an ice guard so it keeps working when the line freezes.

Battery backup option

A battery backup pump keeps running when the power goes out during a storm, when you need it most.

How We Install Your Sump Pump

  1. Free estimate. We find the best spot for the pit and check how water reaches it.
  2. Pit. We cut the floor and set a sealed sump pit, connected to your drain system.
  3. Pump and float. We install the pump and float switch.
  4. Check valve and discharge. A check valve and discharge line carry water outside, away from the foundation, with an ice guard.
  5. Test and clean up. We run water through the system to make sure it starts and pumps out, then clean up.

How a Sump Pump Works

Water from your drain system collects in the sump pit. When it rises, the float turns the pump on, and the pump pushes the water through the discharge line to the outside. The check valve stops it from flowing back in.

Primary Pump vs. Battery Backup

The primary pump does the everyday work. A battery backup takes over if the power goes out or the main pump fails. We’ll tell you honestly whether you need one.

Primary Sump Pump

Runs on household power and handles the water every time it rains. We install Zoeller pumps in a sealed pit with a check valve.

Battery Backup Pump

A second pump on a battery that starts if the power fails. Learn about battery backups.

Sump Pump FAQ

How many sump pumps do I need?

As a rule, we install one sump pump for every 100 linear feet of French drain, so larger basements may need two.

What brand of sump pump do you install?

We install Zoeller sump pumps and check valves.

What warranty comes with a sump pump?

The pump carries the manufacturer’s warranty. The drain system we install with it is covered by our 30-year transferable warranty.

How do I maintain my sump pump?

Test it at least twice a year by pouring water into the pit to make sure it starts and pumps out, and keep the outside discharge clear of debris, snow, and ice.

Do you install battery backup sump pumps?

Yes. A battery backup keeps your basement protected when the power goes out.
